Counting and adding numbers

I want to design a ticket in word for an event I am holding soon. I want to
design it and fit 4 tickets per page and have each ticket automatically
numbered from 1 to 250 without having to copy and paste each ticket to make a
huge document. So is there a way to have word do a count up without having
to make a huge document or to have word print the page number dependant only
on the number of pages printed rather than the number of pages in the
document. I could use Xcel instead if its easier but I dont know how to do
it in that either

Read Help on Seq fields. That's precisely what they're for.

Use Excel as a datasource for a label type mailmerge. You can easily create
a column of sequential number in Excel.
