Countif < than var1 and > var2

How do i do a Countif < than var1 and > var2?

eg. Countif > var1
=COUNTIF($T:$T,"<" & $C2)

I have tried Countif > var1 AND < var2 as
=COUNTIF($T:$T,AND("<"&$C2,">"&$C3))

where $C2 = var1 and $C3 = var2

=COUNTIF($T:$T,"<"&$C2) - COUNTIF($T:$T,"<"&$C3)
