Countdown timer per slide change

Hi everybody

I have an interesting question for you people. We are doing a presentation
in which customers will be watching a Powerpoint slide show. I would like
each slide to have a countdown timer on them showing how many seconds are
left until the next slide appears.

FWIW, In my opinion, that would be a distraction and take away from what the
slide is really trying to project.

This is true, but unfortunately the MD wants this and what he wants he WILL
get!! We are using Powerpoint 2003

However, I don't think there is an off the shelf timer that shows the
remaining time of the 'current' slide
