count inbox (First post)

I need some help with counting the inbox and send the result to a specified email. Or, the best way, I would like to have an excel macro do the job and send the result as an email (this way I can setup a scheduled task and run the macro when the file is opened). I have some knowledge in vba, but not super user.

If someone can help me, if the help is for outlook macro, how can I set it up to do the task every couple hours?
