I have a list of names of people in column A of a
spreadsheet. Most of the names are unique but there are
one or two entries that are duplicated. I want to count
all of the entries but not duplicates. Does anyone know
how to do this?

Many thanks

Anita

Using command Data->Filter_> Advanced filter and checking "unique records" I
can eliminate the duplicates. you may copy them in a separate area
Then simply count the number of records

One way:

=SUMPRODUCT(1/COUNTIF(A1:A20,A1:A20))

Hi,

You can use Filter -Advanced Filter and choose unique records only.
