Could this be a networking (user account) problem.

Hello

I'm not sure if this is network and/or user account related but:

We have three PCs (XP Home) all networked using a hub. No one is the
server but one PC stores the main data.

One of the PCs is for accounting with the User (Administrator) Account
called "Accounts" (the only account on this PC, Guest is turned off) opens
files such as
word documents. The problem is that whilst a document is opening it
displays a message stating that the document is currently being used by
the user "Accounts" and would I like to make a copy? BUT I AM THAT USER!

Other messages appear after opening a file are "do you want to revert to
the saved (file name)?"

It's getting quite frustrating now especially because some file don't
allow to save amended ones.

Thanks for your help and advice you can give me.

David

assuming you still have the same issue after rebooting the computer, you may
want to check the status of the sharing by going to my
computer>manager>share.
