Try this:
- Click Start / Run
- Type the three letters cmd
- Click OK
- Type this command:
net start "Task Scheduler"
- Press the Enter key
- Report what you see

Is there no error message you can report?
Has it ever worked?

What is your operating system and Service Pack level?

Learn about the Task Scheduler service. Get to a command prompt
(Start, Run, cmd) and enter:

sc qc schedule

Report back or redirect it to a file (sc qc schedule > sched.txt) and
copy/paste the result here.

You should see that the Task Scheduler service depends on the Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) service - it that running?

Every start/stop of the Task Schedule service will make an entry in
the Event Viewer System log. What does that say related to your
efforts?

Look at the Task Scheduler log file for other clues here:

c:\windows\schedlgu.txt

If the file it too big, delete it to get a fresh copy and post the
results.
