"Could not delete from specified tables" error

A user received this message:

Runtime error -2147467257 (80004005)
"Could not delete from specified tables"

What could cause this?
This was received from a user in our virtual office environment (at home
workers via thin client) - which I am unable to simulate.
There are a couple of places where I delete records from tables.
