Cost for buying product key opposed to using existing product key

It's time to convert MS Office trial version to the full version, but the
product key on the bottom of my computer doesn't work and I'm away from home
and don't have my originally packaged documentation with me. Does it cost
more to register by bying a key online than it would if I were able to use my
original product key?

Outlook is *not* part of Windows. You have to buy Outlook if you want to
continue using it past its trial period (and, as I recall, you will need to
uninstall the trial version before installing the non-trial version). The
product key on the bottom of your laptop on the sticker is for Windows.

I don't know of any way to purchase a key online. When you but an Outlook
license, the distribution media is essentially free. I'd rather have a real
product CD in my hand anyway than rely on a system restore disk from a PC
vendor.

If you mean you have your own legal copy of Outlook or Office, that's what
you ought to use, unless you want to upgrade to a newer version--for a fee,
of course. Unfortunately, you need the CD to install it. If you don't
already own your own version of Outlook or MS Office, you have to buy it.
You might qualify for the upgrade price which is cheaper than the "full"
price if you have previously used certain other software.
