Corrupted Records

We have an access 2k databsae for our property, tenant and tenancy records.
The 3 main tables, propreties, tenants and tenancies are all linked by
relationships. One of the records in the property table has become corrupted
with the actual data replaced by squares! I have no idea how this happened
but we are now unable to loag any data against the property, change the
tenancy details etc. Each property, tenant and tenancy has a unique ID which
is also the primary key. We cannot therefore re-creatre the property. We have
tried deleting the record and changing the property number but keep receiving
the error 'search key was not found in any record'. We think we are quite
Access clever but this one has us stumped. Any suggestions?

Having deleted the offending record, and having backed up your data, have
you also run the Access Compact & Repair? Have you tried creating a new,
empty .mdb file and importing all the data?

And if that doesn't work, have you tried selecting all the records EXCEPT
the corrupt one from your table and appending them to a new table?

Jeff,

Thanks for the response. Have tried the latter but found that all the
relationshoips / links did not copy over even with the relevant box checked
and it was simply too big a job to remake everything.

Didn't think of creating a new file completely and will work out a time to
do that. We did try to delete the record but experienced problems doing it -
I can't recall the exact error message and can't re-create now because the
system is live.

Will try the new DB file and let you know how we get on.

Thx,

NB
