Corrupted DB

I needed to use my backup front end db because of an unexpected
corruption of the Access 2003 mdb.
Here's what happened.:
I've already printed out Recovering from corruption from Allen Browne's
fine web site.
The db was working fine yesterday. Today I went in and put a form in design
view
and changed 2 label's font and font underline to yes... that's it!!
I was then unable to open any forms, just a message 'Access has stopped
working' ... restart the program. (Event though I have this program failure
notification turned off in Vista).
I really don't know what there is left to do but I do have 1 question.
I have a batch file to decompile the mdb.
My question is, If I decide say to change a font size on a form from say 9
to 10, should I
backup before and decompile the mdb to make this monstrous change the the
form?

Thanks,
James

No. You should not need to backup/decompile/compact after every little
change.

If this is happening frequently, something is wrong. You might try working
through this list of things:
Preventing Corruption
at:

Simple things like making sure you have turned off Name AutoCorrect and
Compile On Demand can make a big difference.

Having said that, I am finding that it is wise to back up before you compact
or decompile, especially under Vista. My personal habit is to back up 2ce a
day, so I never lose more than 4 hours of work.

I do back up-frequently, especially under Vista. This
wan't occurring much under XP.
The db is running like a champ now. I even made more than
1 change to a form and no problems.

Thanks,
James
