Im running outlook 2003, grabbing mail from an exchange
5.5 server mailbox and everything works fine apart from
when i go into the sent items folder the cpu activity hits
a constant 100%, the program becomes non responsive (most
of the time) and requires task manager to sahut it down.
Any ideas of ways to fix, or indeed delete and recreate
the sent items folder would be helpful

Does it also happen when you start Outlook in safe mode? Start-> Run; "path
to outlook.exe" /safe

Are you running in Cached Exchange Mode? If so disable it and try again.

Tips of the month:
-Backup and Restore
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

not running in cached exchange mode, just tried running
outlook in safe mode and its exactly the same as in normal
mode.
ive applied all available updates through office update
and left it sat in "sent items" view for over an hour to
see if it completes whatever it is it seems it is trying
to do but no joy.

However, it doesnt seem to be hanging the software when i
go in at the moment, it just slows it down a lot and the
sent items folder is filled with "none" entries

Sounds like the first message in the Sent Items folder has become corrupted.
Use Outlook Web Access (OWA) or a IMAP connection to delete it.

Problem has been fixed now, unknown reasons or cause
behind it but when the mailbox was put into cached
exchange mode, it all worked ok.

Thanks for your help though.
