Corrupt ntuser.dat file

Is there a way to edit the ntuser.dat file? I have a
corrupt profile, but if I copy the user files over to the
new profile the problem is still there. However, if I
create a new profile the problem disappears. Everything
points to the ntuser.dat file, but I delete it in the
original profile I lose all settings, including pointers
in Outlook to the correct .pst files.
Thanks!

Yes you can edit it by slaving the drive in another XP computer, but you
have to know what you are looking for to edit.

You can also login on as different user with admin privileges and edit
the registry for the corrupt profile. Open regedit and

You have to boot into safe mode and log in as Administrator. Now
ntuser.dat from %windir%\repair to "Documents and Settings\ [user id]".
Next ddo a system restore to a point in time prior to this problem.
