Corrupt installation.... Please Help

I have a corrupt installation and cannot fix it by installing a new clean
installation.

I have one hard disk with about 100GB free. I have about 100GB of data that
I want to keep so I cannot format the partition. I have about 3GB in
unallocated space.

I have tried Paragon Partition Manager and Partition Magic 8.1 but neither
work in Vista.

How can I create a new partition by reducing the space on my C: drive?
or ...
Create a new bootable drive from the unallocated space so I can install XP
on that?

I'm not sure why vista is corrupt but windows installer is all messed up
after installing RC2. I went back to RC1 but the problem persists in that now
too.

Hi,
Most partition software is bootable, so run it from the CD then it doesn't
matter about VISTA.

Yep as Paul says and it can speed up your partitioning--do a search on
Partition Magic on this group.
