Corrupt File

I originally got the "Windows could not start because the
C:\windows\system32\config\system file is missing or
corrupt.
Press R at the system restore console"

But now i get the message "The password is not valid.
Please retype the password.
Type the Administrator password: " I enter the correct
password. KB article 308402 doesn't work, neither does
823614. Any help help out there, my daughter has a ton of
school files on the PC.

Try a blank password with account Administrator
If the System hive was corrupt, it may have been replaced
with a generic, install default copy.
