Corporate Styles in Word 2007

Andrew Oliner

I'm trying to implement Word 2007 in my small company. I want to set it up so
that everyone has the same styles, so that all of our correspondence and
documents match one another. Needless to say, this is NOT the default style
set that Word 2007 uses.

What is the best way to change and enforce the default styles in Word 2007,
across my company? I have tried to find this information in the Resource Kit,
and have been unable to locate it.

Create specific corporate templates incorporating the desired styles and
formatting and put them in the Workgroup Templates location.

What I'd like to do is change and standardize the DEFAULT styles, not create
templates which only give the correct styles if you create a document from
the template. I'd like Word to have my correct corporate styles when it
starts up.

The only way to do this is to modify Normal.dot, and that is *not* the way
it is intended to be used.

Technically, since he's talking about Word 2007, that would be Normal.dotm.

Another alternative that fits more into the scheme of how Word is intended
to be used to to create a new Style Set, and then make that the default.
This leaves Word 2007's default style set available for use should the need
arise. For more on how to do this, press F1 in Word 2007, type "style set",
and press Enter.

Herb,

Thanks! That sounds like exactly what I want to do! Now how can I distribute
this style to my employees?

A style set can be a Word 2007 dotx file. You could then distribute the dotx
file to users on login via Quick Styles folder, but it will need to be
selected as the Default Style set in Normal.dotm (if you do it this way) for
all new documents based on this template (Normal.dotm).

Hope this helps.

If you use Word Help (Blue Circle with Question Mark) and search Quick
Styles you will have all the options available to you set quick styles.

Hope this helps.
