copyright symbol

This may sound like a stupid question, but how do you keep
Excel from inserting the copyright symbol when you
enter "(C)"?
 
Go to Tools > AutoCorrect Options, click on the entry
for "(C)" and delete it.

You can turn it off for good under tools>autocorrect and delete it (note that
autocorrect changes are done for the whole of Office like Word etc)
or you can press space and ctrl + z when you enter it and it will revert
without changing auocorrect
