copying sheet within workbook

Robert

I have resently come across the following problem which
has never occured before. After setting up a worksheet
within a workbook with the formatting desired and formulas
and text desired, lets call it sheet1 for ease of
discussion, I would copy it into the same workbook and
rename it sheet2. After making text changes to it I would
then make a copy of it wanting to rename it sheet3 but
before copying a window would pop up saying "formula or
sheet you want to move or copy contains 'wrn.PAGE2.' which
already exists on the destination worksheet". After
clicking OK the same message appears only this time
refering to 'wrn.SUM.'. This occurs when trying to copy
subsequent sheets but not if I make a copy from the
original sheet1. Why would I have to always go back to
sheet1 to make a copy. Where do these come from and where
are they found in subsequent copies of sheet1? What I am
trying to do is maintain the formatting and appearance of
each sheet within the workbook. Before I had been able to
create sheet7 from sheet6, sheet6 from sheet5, sheet5 from
sheet4, etc. not always going back to sheet1 to make
subsequent copies.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Excel makes and uses a bunch of hidden names, too. When this happens to me, I
usually do the same as you do (Ok to continue).

But then I go back to look at what that name was. I use a very nice addin from
Jan Karel Pieterse,
Charles Williams and Matthew Henson. It's called NameManager.Zip:

A lot of times these names are broken--have Ref!'s in them. I can't think of a
time I kept one. But if you have doubts, keep it.

And it seems like every time this happens, I'm in a hurry to get something done
and don't have time to try to find out what caused the creation. (I was
thinking maybe sorting/filtering/pivottables, but I just tried them and nothing
got created.)

I searched google for "wrn." and found a couple of hits.

I found one hit that suggested that "report manager" created these. But I don't
recall ever using report manager in real life and I've gotten them.

So next time you notice one, try to recall what you did. Then try to recreate
it. If you're successful, please post back.
