Copying files from server to server

Hi gang,

I'm sitting at my computer and I mapped 2 network drive between 2 different
servers. Why when I'm copying large file from one server to the other
server, why is my network card on my computer is actually seeing all the
traffic.

Because all the traffic goes via your computer. Ask your server
administrator to set up a console session for you on one of the servers to
prevent this from happening.

You have to copy a file from a PC, the file must first be sent to your
PC before sending the file over to the second server. In total you
are using three (3) computers to copy a file between two PCs /
servers. This is the way Windows normally works, unless you are using
some type of remote access to one of the servers.

Little tip when copying files over the network. Use Microsoft's RoboCopy.
Very useful.

Yes, robocopy is a fine tool but it will still channel all data via the
user's PC, same as the other tools.
