copying dropdowns

i want to write a macro which copies a dropdownfield 2000 times and
changes the cell reference according to the dropdown's new position.
the problem is that i can change the position of the new dropdown field
but not the cell reference, or the cell reference but not the position,
not both the same time.

Do you really need 2000 combo boxes, or could you use Data>Validation
instead? It would create a dropdown list in the cell.
