I am currently writing a small business db in Access 2003. I want to transfer the db to a friends PC who lives on the other side of the city. Every time I save the db to a cd in my cd writer drive the saved copy comes back as a "read only" version which I cannot use on the second pc. How do I save a db and prevent thr read only status so that it usable by a second person on a second pc (that is not connected to the originating pc)

is it a rw cd burner?
do you finalise the disk?

Edmundo,
When ever you write to a CD, the file is always going to be read only.

To get around this, after you copy the file to your friend's PC, in explorer, navigate to where you copied the file,
right click on the file name, click on properties. At the bottom of the "General" tab, uncheck Read Only.
That should ytake care of your problem

Just a slight qualification to that. This is true in versions of Windows up
to and including Windows 2000. Windows XP clears the read-only attribute
automatically when you copy a file from a CD.
