copy visible cells

Help please: I selected "go to-special-visible cells only", but the problem
is the selection does not stay. This is what I mean:
1. I selected the entire worksheet with the filter on, only 200 out of 800
records are visible;
2. I select "go to-special-visible cells only"

And then I do it again just to make sure the selection is there, however, I
find that after I "go do-special", the tab still shows "comments" being
selected, NOT "visible cells only". Does this sound right to you?

When I copy and paste, sometimes the visible ones are copied, but most
times, I will get message saying Excel does not have enough resources to
complete this task, when I'm only copying 8 rows of data.

Do you know what problem I'm experiencing?
Thanks much!

Hi,

There is no problem here!

First, don't select the entire sheet before choosing Visible Cells Only,
that means you are selecting a billion cells. Visible <> Populated

Second, you don't need to use the Go To Special command with filtered data,
just select the cells which are visible in your data area (not the whole
spreadsheet) and choose Copy...

Third, when you use Go To Special it always opens the default window, that
is, with the first option, Comments, selected. If you think about it visible
cells only might be the case but what if all visible cells have comments, and
all visible cells also contain text. Then three options should be selected
when you open the dialog box but since they are option buttons only one can
be selected. Microsoft just chose to have it open with comments which is
just as logical as opening with any other random choice selected.
