I'm trying to copy/paste columns of data into a graph plotting
program. However if I use the CTRL key to select 2 columns of data
that are not next to each other and copy them, when I switch to my
other program (even notepad) and paste them I get all the columns in
between as well as the ones at either end that I originally wanted.
This seems to happen in Excel 2000 and 2003. It's as though I've
selected a whole block using the SHIFT key. If I do this within
EXCEL, however, I don't have this problem. Any ideas? Thanks

First paste those columns into Excel, then redo the copy on the now
adjacent copy of your data.

Thanks very much, I'll have to do it that way. It's a bit curious why it
happens though - is this a bug in Excel?

I guess Microsoft might call it "by design" <g>.
