Copy/paste doesn't work

I ran disk cleanup, and under "Files discarded by Windows upgrade" is a long
description, several sentences long. I would like to post this description
in a message asking a question about disk cleanup. The obvious thing to do
is copy the description and paste it into the message; manually transcribing
text from one text field to another text field on a computer would be
ridiculous. But Vista refuses to let me highlight the description with the
mouse in order to copy it. Why?

If it worked previously try System Restore to a point or points if you need
to where it was working.

Additionally you should try SFC or System File Checker. Type sfc /scannow
in the run box. Here are screenshots of it running. You can go to
eventvwr.msc in the run box and click on System to make sure that it ran
successfully using the down arrow to go to Windows File Protection as the
source.

MSFT has a panoply of MSKBs discussing it at http://supoort.microsoft.com

Good luck,

Try going to Accessories and using the Snipping Tool - it allows you to drag
and select anything on your screen. I had trouble coping directly from the
snipping tool - so save it first as a picture file, then attach or try copy &
paste from the picture file.

No, this is something which, to the best of my knowledge, has never worked
in any version of Windows. It's a design flaw which needs to be fixed.

That copies an image of the text, not the text itself, so unless I manually
transcribe it, I would have to attach an image to my newsgroup posting,
which would be of no use to people who read only the text of newsgroup
postings and don't download attachments (and they shouldn't have to download
an image anyway, if it's just an image of some text which ought to have been
sent directly as text in the first place).
