Copy & Paste & Clipboard in Vista Excel

In my Vista version of Excel, the clipboard gets cleared after each "paste"
operation. In earlier versions the clipboard is NOT cleared after each paste
operation (very useful in putting together large spreadsheets). Is there any
way that I can tell my version of Excel to STOP CLEARING THE CLIPBOARD after
each paste opn?
Many thanks

In earlier versions of Excel (and other MS products) you could always use
either the Windows clipboard (holds only one item) or the Office clipboard
(hold many items, 24 1 believe, and holds Excel items after Paste)

Office 2007 is no different. In Excel 2007, to active the Office Clipboard
use the Home tab, look at the Clipboard group (far left) and click the
launcher (small arrow next to the word 'Clipboard') to add a Clipboard panel
to the workspace.

To Paste, click on of the items on the Clipboard.

Note if you have Excel open with this panel displayed and you Copy in
another MS application (such as Outlook Express) then the Office clipboard
gets a copy of the material.

BTW: There is no Vista version - there is Excel 2007 which is independent of
Vista.
best wishes

I am managing airplanes under leaseback agreements. For each month the logic
is rather involved. So I have only to work the hard problem once, and then
do 12 copy and paste operations to be prepared for a full year of operation.
Obviously it is much easier to do if I only have to do 12 paste operations.
I understand your solution. Many thanks.

All options in the "paste" expansion are gray (can't be used) except for
"Picture", and I am not doing anything with pictures - rather I am trying to
"paste" a large rectangular group of cells that are loaded with formulas and
some fixed data. I would like to do the paste operation 12 times (for the 12
months).

I am so disgusted with Vista, I am ready to go back to Windows XP. (To do
that will cost me much time - since both of my other machines are crashed -
and I can't afford to go buy something.) If there is any chance at all at
fixing this problem please advise - I am getting desperate now and I have
many other problems in this new Microsoft jungle -
Wow! I think they must be using saboteurs for designers.

Hi,

First, this has nothing to do with VISTA, this is Excel.

Second, if you want 12 copies its very easy:
1. Copy the range
2. Select the first target range (top left corner of your destination) and
click Paste or press Ctrl V
3. Select the next target cell and click Paste, or Ctrl V
4. Repeat the paste 12 times. (copy only once)

Third, if the target cells are on 12 different sheets but the same location,
say A1
1. Copy the range
2. Click the sheet tab of the first target sheet
3. Hold down the Shift key and click the tab of the last sheet where you
want a copy (there should be no other sheets in between the 1st and 12th
sheets which you do not want to paste into.
4. Select the target cell in any one of the selected sheets and choose Paste
or click Ctrl V.
All selected sheets get a copy in the same location. Right-click any sheet
tab and choose Ungroup Sheets. This time only one Copy and one Paste.

Looks like my response did not make it. I will try to reconstruct the last
paragraph and hope that you can forward it to some high level garbage maker
in Microsoft.

"This is probably the end of the line for me. There simply is no way I can
run a small business with endless Microsoft garbage. I have two choices: 1)
go back to Windows XP or 2) Switch to Mac. I don;t have time for either.
FWIW, both of my other computers are crashed. One of them died (blud screen
type of death) while downloading SP3. If You have anyt contact with MS I
hope you will forward my sentiments to MS

Multiple paste opns worked however it failed to transfer the following
important stuff: bold, color, protection, centered text, column widths
(there was nothing else on the sheet) ... and probably something else I
haven't discovered yet. It will take me all day today to manually put all
that stuff back into 12 months worth of sophisticated logical packages ....
Hope this one make it to post ...

FWIW: Formulas did not transfer either - summarize:
Copy and Paste will transfer a spreadsheet "program" as follows:
1) Formulas will not transfer
2) Format info will not transfer: (color, bold, centered, etc. )
3) The protection template will not transfer.

So what does get transferred is useless. - I hope someone can advise
Microsoft about this. We paid a lot of money for the computer and Vista and
find that Excel is useless for my small business operation.

And also - column widths will not transfer.
Everything noted in this comment DOES transfer in Excel 2003 and further all
relative addresses and all symbolic addresses transfer ok in Excel 2003.
Anyone want to buy a new laptop running Vista? $1.00
