Copy/Overwrite?

Hi,

Working through my first Vista experience, Ultimate 64-bit. In Windows
Explorer, the copy command overwrites a same named file at the destination
w/o a warning.

Is there some way to change that behavior? Obviously, I'd much prefer a
warning....

Best,

Craig

When I use the copy command for the same named file, it gives me a warning
and three choices.

If I copy a file from my HD to another folder on that HD, it works as you
say. However these problems happened when copying from a network HD to my
local HD.

Thanks,

Craig

I just tried copying from a network drive to my local drive and it warned me
and gave me the choices. I wish I could offer a suggestion.

I probably should have tested this before posting, but I tried to copy a
small file from my network HD to my local one and it worked fine. However,
copying to my second (d:) drive, it made a "copy of" instead of giving me a
overwrite warning. The files I had had problems with were destined for that
same d: drive. Also they were VERY large (ie 48 GB). Strange.

I had read that Vista has some problems wrt send drives?

Craig
