I have recently installed a new copy of windows XP Pro onto my new
hard-drive, so now I have two operating systems on start-up, running from two
different HDs. I have some anti-virrus software on the old HD which I wish to
install on the new HD, except I do not have the disc, so I cannot install it
from there. Can I easily copy the lot from program files from my old HD to
the new one? Is it easy enough to configure? Where do I start?

You cannot copy programs from one installation to another - leastways there
are very few that you can
Why did you intall winxp to the other hd?

Hi,

Software needs to be installed, as it creates needed entries in the system
registry and places supporting files in the system folders. You cannot copy
the program folder from one installation to another. You will need to locate
the original installation media.

There are products for sale on the shelf at places like Staples
that will migrate some programs from one drive to another.

I had a suspicion it wouldn't be easy!
I installed a new copy of XP for several reasons, but mainly because its XP
Pro rather than XP Home on my old HD.

Thanks to all for your responses.

and most main stream suppliers that used to supply this type of software
have withdrawn their products
