copy folder without changing date/time?

Windows Explorer copies a file, but not a folder, among
drives without changing date/time modified and date/time
created.

Is there a program with a GUI interface that will copy a
folder from one hard drive to another without changing the
date/time modified and date/time created?

I find Robocopy too difficult to use.

You COULD set the computer's date to whatever you want the result to be
before the copy...

Windows backup utility is regularly in use here and very
much appreciated. If there is a way to convince WBU Restore
to retain the original folder date/time modified and
created, please enlighten me.

We're talking about a few hundred folders, no two of which
have the same date. Thanks, though.

I tried it again and it worked for me.

I backuped a folder name Stunt Videos from F Drive and later restore it to E
drive and after that I checked the File and Folder Created, Mofidied, Access
dates. Only the Access date was being changed and rest were as the original
folder.

You should give it a try.

Let us know!

When restoring the .bkf on a different computer and drive
name, wbu does not create a folder that has the source
date-modified on the target drive. It sets the folder
date-modified to today's date. Please note we're not talking
about file dates; we're talking about folder dates. Is there
some setting in wbu that is enabling you to get different
results that I?

In any case, the amount of time and effort consumed by using
wbu is prohibitive. I need software that offers a simple
explorer-type drag and drop from one drive to another while
retaining folder dates. but xcopy would be OK if xcopy had a
switch to retain folder dates.

I'd be happy to pay for such software if someone can
recommend a product.

Since files within the moved folder aren't rejournaled, and
since folders are just files, have you tried moving the folder
ABOVE the folders that you want to move?

Tim, you really got my hopes up with that suggestion. Alas,
the subfolders at the target drive acquired today's date.

Then you need a copying method that doesn't involve the file
manager. Is copying an entire partition acceptable? You could
reserve a small partition (perhaps a logical drive in an Extended
partition) just for those files that you need to be transferred
between hard drives, and then use something like Casper or
Ghost or True Image to copy or clone the entire partition.

This may be the solution. It is amazing that something
apparently so simple is so difficult to accomplish. Thanks
for the suggestion.

If you go that route, use Ghost or Casper for the cloning
because they can clone single partitions. True Image will
only clone the entire hard drive. Although True Image is
capable of making an image file of a single partition, I'm
not certain if the restoration of the image would affect the
journaling of the files or not.

I have used Acronis True Image 11 to restore just the C: partition, and it
preserves the date time stamps of all the directories and files - no
problem.

No, but someone here might find the information useful. Well, not your post,
but ... that's typical of your MO.

I didn't see that; don't recall anything like that. No problem even if it
was; I know others who have had the same question but ... .

Have you tried using a boot pen drive that has Linux on it ?
