Hello,

I have both a laptop and desktop computer that I work off of. What I want
to do is is simply past into folders on my desktop the contents of
corresponding folders on my laptop. My fear is that files with the same name
will be over written even if one is more resent than the other. Does Windows
"compare" files before putting them into the folders?

If you make a folder on the desktop computer called something like
"laptop files", you'll be able to copy over the laptop files without
any problem into that folder. It is only when you try and copy a file
with the exact same name to the exact same location that Windows will
give you the dialog box asking if you want to overwrite the existing
version.
