copies of an Access database does not include latest data - Vista?

Daddy Schlich

Hi,

I have had an Access 2003 application for years that travels between
different people's PCs during the course of a year, with those persons having
responsibility for updating the database. No problems transferring between
PCs until this past week, when the time came to transfer the database from a
person running Vista rather than XP.

At the end of the day, the database in its original location has all the
current data, BUT ... when I copy that database anywhere, it brings up older
data that subsequently has been changed. I moved to "share" the folder under
Vista, and changed all the permissions on the file that I could find to say
"full control" to others, but those steps haven't turned the trick.

And the problem occurs when I copy the database onto the desktop - much less
the USB flash drive that I would ideally like to use to trash the file to
another PC. Can anyone help me understand what is happening???

Thanks so much

I wonder if the issue might not be related to Public folders in Vista. Could
it be that two versions of your database are on this user's PC, one in a
Public folder, and the other in the User's personal folder?

C:\Users\Public\Desktop
versus
C:\Users\{NTUserID}\Desktop

where {NTUserID} is a place holder for this user's normal NT account.
