Hi Guys
I havent been here for a while.

I have copied my website to another computer and have installed FP 2003.

My problem is that the navigation page has not recognised any of my links !
Why ?
I have copied all my folder of the complete website.

What do I have to do to make sure that everything is copied including menu
and links.
The menu shows on the pages and but doesnt link.

I will do a report to also check whats happened.

My goal is to update my website and then upload and update my online site.

Publish it...not copy, or Import.

With FP, open your website live (http://whateveryourwebsitesnameis and Publish it to your new 'puter.

The best approach would be to open your live/remote site and publish that to your new computer, this
way you have all the current content as well as ensuring the your local copy is in sync with the
live copy, which is not when you copy between local machines.

I think I am about to justify getting rid of my dial up connection and
getting a high speed line. ; )
I have about 50 mb of website online.

Yep - get broadband
Since you have a new PC you will have to Publish All at least once to get the site on your PC in sync w/ the online site

To make it less painful w/ dialup
One option is to open the online site in FP and break it down into smaller subwebs (say less than 10 MB) and publish each subweb
individually

I suspect most of your 50 MB site is media files (images, movies, pdf, etc), not Html pages
- or you have media file larger than 1 MB (which will probably give you errors in publishing)

If your host support subwebs and you have a recent copy of your files that you have copied to your new PC:
Open you Online site in FP
Create a folder - say media
Move all the large media files to that folder
- FP will adjust the links
(and make a note of the file list or print a report view of that folder)
Right click the media folder and select convert to web
- FP will treat the files in media as external links
Publish the remaining smaller site to your PC to a new location
(different from the place where your current copy is)
Do not include Subwebs in the publishing!
When done publishing open your new PC FP site and create a folder named media and convert it to a subweb
Close FP and copy your same media files to the media folder in Windows Explorer
- or open your media subweb in FP and use File Import to select the same media files
Open the Local PC site in FP and right click the media subweb to convert to folder
Run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks and close the Local PC site in FP
Open the Remote Hosted site in FP and right click the media subweb to convert to folder
Run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
Try Publishing form Online site (local) to PC (remote) using Changed pages only
(hopefully FP will not try to republish all the media files)
