Hello there.

I've just reinstalled Windows XP and have had to reset
all my settings so that I can function normally again...
However, one problem continues to hassle me - when I try
to log onto Hotmail, I'm told I need to enable cookies.
Well, I've done everything I can to enable them, and it
still doesn't allow me to log onto Hotmail (or my
passport.net account...)

Any suggestions out there?

OK, I've done something that fixed this problem!
Perhaps it was the Windows updates that helped - at any
rate, cookies aren't a problem anymore. Now it's
Java.......

on top bar of IE ... Tools > Internet options > Security
tab > click green internet globe > click Default level.
This should allow java to run. It will not run if set to
High. Good Luck. Happy New Year.
