converting

I have XP Home on computer i just built.I have the hard
drive from other computer with alot of files i would
really like to keep its OS is ME.Bios shows both HDD XP
shows both HDD in device manager but i have no drive
letter for HDD with ME OS i would like to know how to
convert it to XP without looseing data,that means i need
to know how to give it a drive letter.Once that is done
or some other way i can convert all files if my
understanding is correct.

Try goiing into disk management (diskmgmt.msc from the RUN box)
and assigning it a drive letter. Also, if there is something wrong,
you may be able to get more information as to the status.

Click on "Administrative Tools", then click on "Computer Management",
and then click on "Device Manager".

You should see a layout of both of your hard drives. Right click on
your ME hard drive (if there is more than one partition, you'll have
to do this for each partition) and select "change drive letter".
Just assign your ME hard drive (partitions) drive letters that you
wish as long as they are not already used.

I'm not convinced you need to do any conversion. Are you sure you
jumpered the drives correctly?
