Hi!

I have a mailing list set up as labels in Word, and I'd
like to convert it into an Excel database. Is there an
easier way to do so, short of copying and pasting each
name from the label into the name column in Excel, each
address from Word into Excel, etc.? Something along the
lines of a reverse Mail Merge?

If you reply, would you mind, please, copying me on my e
mail at

(e-mail address removed)

Thanks!

Hi Mary

i've done this previously using the following method
in Word, choose Edit / Replace, click in the "find what" box and then click
on More, click on Special and choose paragraph mark (or just type ^p), click
in the "Replace with" box and type a comma
then click Replace All and close

Now select the table that the labels are in (choose table / select table)
and then choose table / convert / table to text - choose to separate text
with a paragraph mark.

Now choose Edit / Replace again, in the "find what" box you want two
paragraph marks ^p^p
and in the "replace with" box you want only 1 ... replace all until it
doesn't replace any more.

You now have a comma delimited file that you can save as a txt file (plain
text) - choose file / save as - change save as type to plain text or txt and
give it a name.

Then if you open excel and then choose file / open - change the files of
type to All Files & open up the *.txt file created above, the import wizard
will allow you to specify that it is a comma delimited file & will put each
element of the address in a separate column and each "label" in a separate
row.

Hope this helps
