converting txt ext. to html ext in notepad?

I can't view my html in ie6 cause I convert from notepad
txt extension to html extensions. Is there a way to keep
notepad from automatically putting that txt extension on
my html code automatically? and letting me add the .html
extension to it so I can see my what my future webpage
would like like using html code?

when you save the file, put the filename along with the extension in double
quotes in the save as dialog box
eg: "code.htm"
