converting pdf to excel

I am wondering if there is a way to convert data, tables,
and graphs from a pdf format into excel. If anyone knows
how, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Scott,
It depends on the PDF document. If security setting prohibit copy/paste,
nothing can be done without the password.

If you have the Acrobat editor there is a table copy options under the text
selector tool.

Worst case is a screen capture, save as picture, use OCR software to scrap
the text.

Ghostscript may be able to open PDF files and write them to plain text files.
Formatting may be lost.

Don't need Ghostscript, though it'd probably work. There's a fairly large DOS
utility that converts PASSWORD-PROTECTED PDF files (just tested & verified) to
plain text available at

Formatting is mostly lost, but so much for PDF security. Moral: if a file can be
rendered into something readable on screen, it's not secure. Whether this means
secure files are effectively unusable is a philospohical point I'll leave for
others to discuss.
