Converting or formatting NTFS to FAT32

OK, I didn't understand that. I said that the FDISK utility that came
with Win98 can make FAT32 partitions larger than 32GB. You're right
that a Win98 system wouldn't even see the NTFS partition. But if you
booted from a WIN98 startup disk and ran FDISK, I think it would be
visible. You could then delete the NTFS partition and create a FAT32
one.
But, will Win98 booted from a floppy even see an external USB2 hard drive?
Are there drivers that can be installed on such a boot disk that would give
one access to this type of drive?

Cheers.

Simply booting from a Win98 startup disk would start DOS (I forget
which version) not Win98, and would pretty surely leave you with no
USB support. If you could find a Win98 FDISK, you could use it in XP
or Vista.

Thank you. As I will be using the drive mostly with a Mac, I've decided that
it would be too much trouble to use Win98 to partition it 6 times into FAT32
just so that I could occasionally use it with my PC. As it happens, I'm
writing this on my Mac, as my stupid Windows Vista PC has stopped connecting
to or even seeing my wireless network. HFS+ all the way!

Thanks to all who have endeavored to help. Much appreciated :)

Yes, but Computer Management only gave the option of formatting as NTFS.
From what I've been reading, Microsoft started making NTFS the only
option for formatting on drives larger than 32GB.

Yes, they did this with XP. It's been the case for several years now.
As for drives less
than 32GB, I haven't tried to format one under Vista as I don't have any
32GB or smaller drives to hook up and try.

It would be the same. If you want to format FAT32 on a larger partition,
you have to use a 3rd party tool or a previous version of Windows.

Just have your PS3 format it.
