Converting Lotus 123 to Excel

Melissa

I have a few files that were converted from Lotus 123 to
Excel. When the files are opened in Excel, they behave
like a workspace (i.e., opening one file opens up each
sheet in the file in a separate window). Does anyone know
of a way to break this connection? I have tried resaving,
copying the worksheets out, as well as several other
things.

Any help would be appreciated.

How does this help Melissa?

: Check out under Tools>Options>General. Clear the contents of Alternate
: startup file location

Since the OP has not posted back, and since you got interested, I am posting
this reply.

I have not actually worked on Lotus files, but I assume that they can be
opened in Excel like a DBF file. So, opening the file is not the question
here.

In Excel, when an alternate startup directory is suggested in Tools>Options,
all the files in that particular directory will be opened, whenever you
start Excel. Since I observed a similar behaviour in the OP's question, I
suggested to check out if any such directory is mentioned.

And, I have not given the reply with complete authority that this is *the*
solution. The suggestion was aimed at one of several possible causes.

Regards,
Murthy
