Converting footnotes to endnotes

A colleague has just converted all the footnotes in her document to endnotes
through Insert, footnotes, convert footnotes to endnotes. However, the top of
the list of endnotes has a line above it--the same line that you get above
the footnote texts. How can she get rid of it? We've tried modifying the
style, but it doesn't work.

She's using Word 2002, running on Windows XP.

Thanks,
Suroor

It is an endnote separator. To delete it, do this:
Select View > Normal.
Select View > Footnotes > View Endnote Area, OK.
In the top of the Endnotes pane, select "Endnote Separator" from the list.
Now you should be able to select the line (double-click it) and delete it.
