Converting Corel Presentations 10 to PowerPoint

How do I convert a Corel 10 file to PowerPoint? My friend has the file in
Corel on her computer and she is trying to email it to me so that I can open
it in PowerPoint. Any ideas? Thanks!

Usually, when transferring between (hmmm... what is the correct term here...
ahhh) competing softwares, you will need to back up a few versions and save
the file to a format they both understand.

Does your friend have a 'Save As' function that converts to a PPT
(PowerPoint) file? If so, then she should save using that format. When you
get the file, you should be able to open it. However, all the new features
installed in the interim versions may be lost. So you should be able to get
a basic presentation from Corel 10, but probably not with all the
animations, transitions and goodies intact.

Corel is a company that makes lots of different programs, and most of 'em have
had a version 10 at one point or another.

My guess is that it's either Corel Draw or Corel Presentations, but it might be
something else altogether. If you can, find out specifically what she's using.

If it's Corel Draw and she sends you CDR (Corel Draw) files, she could try
saving as Draw 5 and sending that. PowerPoint includes an import filter for
Draw but it doesn't support the most up to date versions.

Or she could save as WMF or EMF.

In any case, you won't Open the file in PPT -- you'll start with an existing
presentation and use Insert, Picture, From File to bring in the graphics.
