Converting confusion

Hello!

I am trying to do this in excel:

Converting marks to points

Test marks 3 - 5 (= 0.5 points) 6 - 8 (= 1 point) 9 - 11 (= 1.5 points) 12 - 15(= 2 points)


does anyone know if there is a formula for excel to convert marks to points for this basic table?:

Test mark /15 Points (see below)

i would like to put a formula in to the points coloum so that if the user puts 7 in the marks coloum the points coloum will automatically say 1 (as per the table above) is this possible in excel??
