Convert word file to excel file

I have a word file that I need to convert to excel. I ended up just cutting
and pasting the information into a blank excel document. The thing is though
that I could input all of the information I have into the excel document and
I can't seem to be able to create the space that it takes to hold all of my
data.
Anyone have any suggestions.
 
Is your data in a table or at least set up with some sort of delimiter
(tabs, commas,whatevers)?
