Convert to Domain - Copy Profile Issues

Hi!

I recently upgraded a company from a peer-to-peer workgroup to a domain. I
have been trying to copy the profiles from the local profile to the new
domain user profile. The only way I have been able to do this is to make
the new user account an administrator on the local machine (which I don't
want to do). I have been logging on as the domain admin on each computer to
copy the profiles, but until I make that user an admin, I get errors on the
copy.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Login as admin, copy profile to new
profile, add new user with permission to use profile.

Thanks!

Hi

We solve this profile "restore" another way:

It can be done very easily by (in the registry) changing the profile
path for the new user to point to the old user's profile folder.

If the user is not a local admin, you might need to to something on the
permission side. Use tip 4631 and 2240 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at

Excellent! Thanks!

Are there any issues to having 2 profiles (local and domain) using the same
profile? I can't imagine a need to go back to the local profile anyway once
it has been converted to AD and in a domain, but just want to make sure in
case someone thinks something got left behind.

Hi

No issues as far as I know...
