Convert scrap document to a Word Document

I inadvertantly converted a long text document to a scap document and now I
can't reverse the process.
I also have trouble opening the scrap - It tells me that "someone else is
using this file, or this file is open somewhere, so close it and try again"
(there's no one here but me!) Actually, I have checked and I can't see that
the file is open anywhere in my system. It's a mystery. I usually have log
off(shut down my computer) and then it will reluctantly open.
Can you help?
