Its virtually impossibe to convert a scanned text,"even if scanned to word",
or a screen capture to an editable text similar to pasting of text from other
sources to word or wordperfect. Somehow it retains the,"uneditable",
properties of an image file, which are now even more difficult to manipulate.
I wish I could scan a newspaper article, extract just the text, and be able
to edit it as easily as if i had pasted an article from the net.

It's not only possible, it's relatively easy to so. Just run OCR on
the image file, using a good OCR program like OmniPage Pro or ABBY
Fine Reader.

OCR is designed to do what you are describing. It turns a scanned image
into editable text, in some cases with formatting, and with accuracy rates
that can be very high with quality originals.

If this doesn't work for you then you need to review the software you are
using and the way you are using it.
