I recommend PDFCreator. I've been using it for around three years. It
has never failed to produce readable pdf files from any source file I've
used.

I get the idea that the program is set to print, but will it make just
docs that can be seen in psp or Photoshop or Acrobat?

Both proggies generate pdf files, that is, "Acrobat" files.
