Convert for Editing

This follows a similar thread. I know you can insert a .bmp into Powerpoint but you can't edit it. Office 2000 claims there are conversion tools. If you look at set-up for Office 2000 it does list them
1. I can't get them installed. Any ideas
2. If you could convert a .bmp to .ppt would you really be able to edit it
3. Is there such a conversion program in the freeware or shareware world

Thanks

PTT, Inc.

PowerPoint is NOT an image editing program. You might want to edit your
bitmap in Paintbrush of Adobe Photoshop or some other graphics program then
insert it into PowerPoint. PowerPoint is limited to things like contrast,
cropping, etc.

These aren't conversion tools in the sense you might assume them to be.
PowerPoint will allow you to insert (import, bring in, etc.) BMPs and images
in other image file formats, but it won't let you edit them.

Other than that, I'm not even sure what you'd expect PPT to do ... a BMP is
just a collection of dots of various colors that happens to look like
something. Even though that "something" might be perfectly readable text,
there's no text in the BMP, so there's really nothing for PPT to convert.
