convert files from FAT to NTFS

I bought a new computer, now I need to transfer some files from my old PC
with Win98, Fat to the new one with NTFS. Any suggestions on how to convert
those files and also how to transfer without copying everyone to a floppy. No
R/W CD, no USB support for sandisk, USB port and serial port are available.

You don't need to convert the files before you transfer them. Without
getting technical, "FAT" and "NTFS" refer to the way data is arranged and
stored on the HD, not the format of the files themselves.

Having said that, from the equipment you have available, I would say the
easiest way for you to move your files would actually be to connect your old
HD directly to your new computer (as a slave drive) and then simply copy the
files you want.

Barring that, you can also try using a USB cable and runnning the "Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard". This can also be done with a serial cable or a
crossover network cable. If you have a large amount of data to transfer,
connecting the HD would, however, be the fastest method.
