Convert File to Word

I have a number of files that were originally saved to Word Perfect. Now I want to open them and save to Word. Some open as garbage in Notepad and some don't open at all. I am getting a message error 1706 with a directive to acquire STDRET.MSI Running my Office CD is not correcting the problem. Can I obtain STDRET.MSI from the Web?

Word has a filter for Word Perfect. You should be able to open it in
Word and it will open if a valid file. Forget Notepad.

If it does not work, then the filter not installed. Run the Word setup
program to get it installed.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Rob Schneider's advice is accurate. A part of your problem may be the
different versions of WP and Word. i.e., Word 97 won't open a document saved
from WP 2000. If you still have access to the Word Perfect program that
created these files, you might need to go back and use it to save them to an
earlier WP file format. (First, though, try following through on Rob's
advice to install the converters in Word.)
