convert Excel data to contacts

When I try to import data from Excel spreadsheet to
Outlook contacts I get an error message that says:
"An ODBC error has occurred in the Microsoft Excel
translator while getting the contents of a file system.
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data source name not
found and no driver specified."
How can I fix this so I can do the conversion?

Have you tried simply exporting the Excel file to CSV format, then importing that?
